Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu on Thursday said she has finished filming for her upcoming Prime Video series Citadel, a show she hopes to return with a bang as she goes on a one-year break from work to focus on her treatment of autoimmune condition, myositis.
Samantha took to Instagram and posted a picture of herself with filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK and writer Sita Menon. Citadel also features Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who is making his debut in the digital space.
Samantha shared the picture and thanked Raj and DK for never “giving up” on her and for giving her the role of a “lifetime.” This is her second collaboration with the filmmakers after the hit series The Family Man season two.
“And it’s a wrap on #CitadelIndia🤍 A break doesn’t seem like a bad thing at all when you know what’s coming💪🏼 @rajanddk @mensit The family I didn’t know I needed🤗🤍 Thank you for helping me fight every single battle and never ever giving up on me.. I wish more than anything in the world to make you proud.. Thank you for the role of a lifetime.. i.e until you write me the next☺️♥️”
The actor’s publicist, Mahendra had earlier told indianexpress.com that Samantha won’t be taking on any new projects for one year as she is set to leave for the USA for the treatment of her autoimmune condition, Myositis, which affects her muscles leading to severe pain.
“If her condition improves earlier than expected, she may return within six months. However, the planned duration of her break is one year. She is already making good progress in her recovery, and her doctors have advised her to take mandatory rest. Samantha will depart for the US in the fourth week of August (Aug. 20),” the publicist had shared.
Apart from Citadel, the actor also recently wrapped up her upcoming film Kushi with Vijay Deverakonda. Citadel is a multi-language series, which includes spin-off shows set in different countries, including Italy, India, Spain and Mexico. The US version of Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, has already been renewed for a second season.
