Senior leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) including Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Congress leaders will be meeting on Wednesday at Grand Hyatt hotel, Mumbai, the venue of Opposition’s INDIA alliance meeting on August 31 and September 1.
Wednesday’s meeting will be to oversee the preparations and to decide the agenda of the INDIA alliance meeting, which is the third in row after Patna and Bengaluru.
The INDIA meeting is being hosted by Shiv Sena (UBT) in Mumbai. While Uddhav Thackeray will be hosting the dinner party for the visiting dignitaries at the venue on August 31, on September 1 the meeting will take place at the same venue followed by a press conference.
Convenors appointed for the INDIA alliance may also be named after the meeting.
According to sources, during the meeting in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1, a logo of INDIA alliance may also be unveiled, and two convenors of the alliance may be appointed.
At the second opposition unity meeting in Bengaluru, the 26 opposition parties agreed to the new name of the alliance INDIA, which was proposed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, the delegation of MVA leaders including Sena leader and MP Anil Desai, leader of Opposition in legislative council Ambadas Danve, NCP MP Supriya Sule, Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad and Sanjay Nirupam met Mumbai police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar to discuss about the security arrangements for the INDIA alliance meeting which would be attended by several VIPs including seven Chief Ministers, some cabinet ministers, MLAs and MPs and other senior opposition leaders.
“Since nearly seven CMs and several cabinet ministers along with several top leaders would be attending the meeting, we met the police commissioner to ensure proper security arrangements. He has assured us that the necessary arrangements would be made and there would be no issues,” Danve said after the meeting.
The delegation is also likely to meet chief secretary Manoj Saunik and submit a list of VIPs who are expected to be in Mumbai for the INDIA alliance meeting and request for necessary protocol and security arrangements.
