2023 was a remarkable year for Bollywood and the way it bounced back to life post pandemic. It was truly a year of the Hindi film industry and punch on the face for those who had said that Bollywood is finished. Many said that it’s the death knell of Bollywood.
Bollywood reinvented itself and made a huge comeback in 2023. The year started with Shah Rukh Khan giving a new lease of life to the entertainment industry in India with Pathaan. Pathaan was about Bollywood’s victory over all the negativity around #BoycottBollywood.
As for Business Standard report, 2023 was a resurgence year for the Hindi film industry. Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan minted Rs 543 crore at the domestic box office and the worldwide collection crossing the Rs 1,000 crore mark.

Bollywood went through a rough patch due to COVID-19. And not just SRK’s Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, films like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, Jawan, Gadar 2, and Animal made huge success at the box office. In fact, Animal despite its toxicity was a huge hit and the audience called it ‘entertaining’.
Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal was the latest movie to join the Rs 500 crore club. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ruled the box office for three weeks and has grossed over Rs 800 crore worldwide making the Hindi film industry to bounce back to life post COVID 19.
It started with the SRK magic when one of the most romantic heroes of the Hindi film industry gave us action films like Pathaan and Jawan with a romantic twist. The theatre going audiences were waiting for their theatre worthy experiences and Bollywood was able to deliver It to them.
On the other hand, as Firstpost reported earlier Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki‘ became the biggest hit in a non-action genre. Though, the movie didn’t have the magic of SRK and many called it a messed up Rajkumar Hirani film, Dunki gave 200 Cr. mark in India and the 400 Cr. mark worldwide.
