Maharashtra on Friday reported 926 new Covid-19 cases, and three deaths while the capital Mumbai recorded 276 new cases, according to the state’s daily Covid health bulletin.
The new cases brought the total number of infections to 81,84,599, while three people died, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,48,457, according to a health official.
As per the state health department, Maharashtra had on Thursday registered 803 fresh coronavirus cases and three fatalities that raised the tally of infections to 81,47,673, which includes 1,48,454 deaths.
According to the official, Mumbai led the way with 276 new cases, a 27 per cent increase from the previous day, while three deaths were reported in Gondia, Kolhapur, and Raigad districts. The recovery count climbed by 423 in the past 24 hours to 79,95,655, leaving the state with a backlog of 4,487 current cases, he added.

The recovery rate was 98.12 per cent and the death rate was 1.8 per cent.
According to official statistics, 8,66,87,653 coronavirus tests have been performed throughout the state thus far, with 11,881 in the previous 24 hours.
On Friday, during a COVID-19 review meeting presided over by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, it was discovered that Maharashtra was one of three states with ten or more districts having a positive rate (cases per 100 tests) of more than 10 per cent.
