Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar on Wednesday reacted to Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut’s claims that a change of Chief Minister in Maharashtra was allegedly being plotted out in Delhi.
“Whatever Sanjay Raut has said about a change in CM must be from his own sources. I don’t have any information on this,” Sharad Pawar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Asked about the posters describing his nephew as a future CM coming up in some places, the NCP chief said Ajit Pawar himself had told his supporters not to do such things.
“Ajit Pawar himself has said that putting his posters terming him as the future CM is madness,” he added.
Raut has claimed that Eknath Shinde has not lived up to the expectations of the BJP and his government will collapse in 15 to 20 days as preparations are underway in Delhi to topple him.
Raut went on to say that Ajit Pawar was capable of becoming Maharashtra chief minister since he has vast administrative experience.
Speculations are rife in Maharashtra that Ajit Pawar is upset with the NCP chief and is trying to break away with his supporters to join the BJP.
Notably, amid all the buzz, Ajit Pawar recently stated that he would ‘100 per cent’ like to become the chief minister. He also hinted that NCP can stake a claim to the post of chief minister now also instead of waiting for 2024.
In 2019, in an unexpected turn of events, Ajit Pawar extended support to the BJP and took oath as BJP leader Devendra Fadnavi’s deputy while the talks of Maha Vikas Aghadi were going on. However, the government could not survive as Ajit Pawar failed to prove majority.
