On Sunday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘orange alert’ for the national capital predicting light rain accompanied by squall at the speed of 50-60 kmph on Monday under the influence of a western disturbance.

“Isolated hailstorm also likely over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab on 22nd & 23rd; over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh on 23rd May, 2022. Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Jammu & Kashmir and north Punjab on 23rd May, 2022,” tweeted IMD on Sunday.
A few parts of Delhi received overnight rain, as 0.8mm rainfall was recorded till 8.30am on Sunday at Safdarjung. Palam, Najafgarh and Lodhi Road recorded 2mm, 1mm and 0. 9mm rainfall, respectively, till 8.30am.
