After receiving the award, an emotional MM Keeravani said, “Thank you very much for this prestigious award. I am just very overwhelmed and i am very happy to share this moment with my wife who is sitting right there. It has been a practice to say that this award belongs to someone else and not me, but I am going to break that. ” In his speech, the filmmaker also thanked Junior NTR and Ram Charan who danced to this song.
Opening up about a possible sequel to ‘RRR’, director Rajamouli had told Variety on the red carpet, “A few weeks back when I was discussing with my father and cousin, who are my story team, a fantastic idea came up and we started writing. But, you know, until the script is done, we can’t take it forward, but we are in the process of doing that.” When asked about the bid to get ‘RRR’ in the Oscar race, Rajamouli had stated, “First of all, it humbles me that I get love from so many people who think great things about me and my films. I think I can just be humbled by their love.”
‘RRR’ featured Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the role of Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The fictional story was set in a set in pre-Independence times. The film also starred Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles.
