Amid low voter turnout being reported from different parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh, where polling is left in two phases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing public rallies in Basti and Shravasti, on Wednesday, appealed to the people to exercise their right to vote and not think that the Modi government would come to power even if they do not vote.
PM Modi asked people not to waste their vote and stated that voting would be like earning “punya” (earning good deed) and thus one should not leave the opportunity to earn “punya”.
“Is chunav baad kiski sarkar banegi…Toh vote barbad hone dena chahiye? (After this election, whose Government would be formed.. so should you allow your vote to be wasted),” the PM questioned the people in Basti.
He pointed out that many people may not cast their vote thinking that the Modi government would be formed. “Main toh nahi jaunga toh bhi chal jayega, Modi ki Sarkar banna toh pakka hai. (It would be ok if I do not vote as it is Modi Government’s formation is confirmed).”
The PM then told the crowd that he is going to do good work and that those who have voted would earn “good deeds”. “Vote dene walon ko who punya zaroor pahunchne wala hai…Vote kijiye. Viksit bharat ke liyte, vote dijiye,” the Prime Minister further said.
“India is the fifth largest economy today,” the PM said, adding that “the world attentively listens to it and when India makes decisions, the world tries to keep pace with it.”
In Shravasti, the Prime Minister cited the recent rallies of the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Phulpur, and alleged that SP and Congress were paying people to attend their rallies and become the member of the crowd, but when the crowd did not get their payment, they climbed the dais to get their money. “When a party is in such a condition, how can they help you gain benefits?” he asked the people.
Targeting the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi said that “team of two boys” is again trying to come up with a “flop film”, with same characters. “UP mein do ladkon ki jodi phir see launch hui hai..Phir ek baar flop film, vahi purane kirdar, wahi purane dialogue,” the PM said.
“They are claiming to win 79 seats in Uttar Pradesh,” PM Modi said, adding that this claim has made him realise what “day dreaming” is.
“On June 4, people of Uttar Pradesh will wake them from their slumber and then they (Akhilesh and Rahul) will likely blame EVMs,” he added.
The Prime Minister also said that it is ironical that the INDI-alliance is talking about the “Constitution”, when the Congress themselves imposed the nearly two-year-long Emergency and were unable to save their party’s Constitution.
Acknowledging the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister said that he has worked hard to bring Uttar Pradesh from the ditch it was trapped in and alleged that SP and Congress would again take it back.
He lambasted the two parties for their refusing to accept the invitation to attend the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
“Yeh Ram Mandir par Babri tala lagane ka sapna dekh rahe hai. (They dream of putting a Babri lock on the Ram temple and want to send Ram Lalla back to the tent),” the PM said.
Maintaining that the region falls near Ayodhya, Prime Minister promised its development as part of “Ram Circuit”.
Referring to Pakistan, Prime Minister Modi said, “The country that once glared at us and issued threats, the patron of terror, is now insignificant and struggling even for food grains. But, its sympathisers i.e. SP and Congress, are now trying to create fear in India… They warn us to fear Pakistan because of its atomic bomb.”
He underlined the fact that “India no longer has a weak Congress government but a strong Modi government. India does not seek to intimidate anyone, nor it will tolerate those attempting it. That is why India is taking decisive action against its threats.”
