Actor Darsheel Safary says if a collaboration with Aamir Khan has to happen, it will happen organically and not by him engineering a situation that leads him to work with the superstar again after Taare Zameen Par.
Darsheel made his screen debut with the 2007 drama, which was directed by Aamir, who also starred in the film. Though Taare Zameen Par made Darsheel a household name and his on-screen equation with Aamir was widely loved, the duo never teamed up again for another project.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, when asked if he feels Aamir Khan didn’t push his career enough after Taare Zameen Par, Darsheel said, “Not at all! I am very shy. I get awkward with these things. I can’t tell you how many times I have been told, ‘Are you in touch with Aamir uncle? Drop him a text, call him, this and that.’ But I feel shy doing this. I don’t know how to put it in words. It should always happen organically.”

The actor said whatever projects he did post Taare Zameen Par, be it his work on stage or other projects, he always got noticed by someone or the other. “Work leading to more opportunities is the ideal way forward,” Darsheel said, and revealed that though he never went on to work with Aamir again, the superstar knows all about his projects.
“This concept of, ‘tumpe kisi ka haath hai‘, I have never understood that and I have never expected that as well. In fact, after Taare Zameen Par, almost every project that I have done, somewhere or the other, it has been communicated to Aamir that this is the project that I am doing. It’s mostly the case, just to get his blessings.”
Darsheel said he would love to be a part of an Aamir Khan film if things fall in place and a film is made organically. “I want to be a part of that kind of process, not like, ‘Hi sir, I am here, I am looking to work with you again.’ Which I am very excited to, because it has been 15 years since the film, so I would love to share with him what I have learnt from that one experience. I want to show him what I have become, through his guidance.”
Darsheel, who is currently awaiting the release of his next Hukus Bukus, said he last connected with Aamir during his 2022 release Laal Singh Chaddha. The superstar is rumoured to return to the big screen next year with the official adaptation of the Spanish sports dramedy Champions.
