Congress to gherao Odisha secretariat over BJD’s ‘corruption, misrule’
The Odisha Congress issued a call for a ‘secretariat gherao’ on February 26, expressing dissatisfaction with what they term “corruption and misrule” under the BJD government in the state.
Speaking at a press briefing, Sarat Pattanayak, the president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), asserted that the BJD administration has failed to guarantee a minimum support price (MSP) for paddy farmers in the state. Moreover, he alleged that the youth, women, and tribal communities have been neglected, PTI reported.
“The youths are denied jobs and are forced to migrate to other states, atrocities against women are on the rise, while the rights of dalits and tribals are being curtailed by the ruling BJD,” he stated.
He also highlighted the declining standards of education and healthcare within the state.
In response to these grievances, the Odisha branch of Congress plans to organise a demonstration at the secretariat on February 26, as announced by Pattanayak.
