New Delhi: Hardik Pandya-led second string Indian team is all set to clash against Ireland in 1st T20 International on Sunday at The Village Cricket Ground in Dublin. Hardik Pandya is captaining the Indian T20 team for the first time in the absence of senior players like Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli who are busy in its preparations for the fifth and final Test match against England starting at Edgbaston from July 1.
The selectors have reposed faith in Hardik as the all-rounder powered debutants Gujarat Titans to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title win this year.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the first T20 match between India vs Ireland. Tickets for both T20 matches to be played at The Village in Dublin have already been sold out.
However, there’s a worrying weather update for the fans as the rain is most likely to spoil the game. According to Weather.com, the weather is not pleasant for cricket.
The chance of rain in Dublin is 71 percent. Also, the ground will remain cloudy throughout the day and the temperature will be around 13 degree Celsius.
Hardik Pandya has a chance to attain massive T20 feat
If Hardik Pandya bowls against Ireland today, he will become the first player to bowl as captain for India in T20Is. Before him, 8 players have captained the national team in this format, but no player has bowled during his tenure.
Virender Sehwag, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant have captained India in T20 cricket, but none of the captains have bowled yet.
