THE UTTAR Pradesh government on Saturday cancelled the preliminary examination for the recruitment of review officer/assistant review officer (RO/ARO) that was conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on February 11, after several candidates raised allegations of paper leak and other irregularites.
The examination, held at 2,387 centres across 58 districts in the state, had seen participation from around 64 per cent of a total of 10,76,004 registered candidates. A total of 411 vacancies were to be filled by the examination.
Soon afterwards, candidates began protesting over an alleged paper leak, demanding that the examination be cancelled. Complaints were also raised that some questions in the exam paper had been allegedly shared on social media earlier. In response to the allegations, the government urged the public to provide evidence of facts related to the allegations.
A press release issued by the government on Saturday said that on the basis of the evidence provided to the government and a report submitted by the UPPSC, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the cancellation of both sessions of the RO/ARO (preliminary) examination. The CM also directed that a re-examination should be conducted within six months.
