The dismembered body of a 70-year-old woman was found in a plastic drum near an abandoned building in Bengaluru’s K R Puram on Sunday night, said the police.
The deceased was identified as Susheelamma, a BJP worker who resided at Nisarga Layout in K R Puram. Her younger daughter and granddaughter stayed in another apartment in the same complex, said the police.
Whitefield Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivakumar Gunare said they filed a murder case and detained a suspect for inquiry. Another police officer said a property dispute might have led to the killing.
“The plastic drum without a lid was discovered a few meters away from her flat. We suspect she was killed on Friday night and the body was cut into pieces before being dumped in the plastic drum. A chain on Susheelamma’s body helped us identify her.” said the police.
Susheelamma had lived in Chikkaballapur and shifted to Bengaluru a couple of years ago, said the police. Her younger daughter worked in a private firm and her granddaughter is a student, they added.
