Kumbh Mela 2021: The Uttarakhand government has started taking action against the accused in the fake COVID-19 test results scam. Dhami government has suspended two officials for their involvement in the fake COVID-19 testing scam which happened during the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar in April, this year.
On the orders of state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Medical and Health Officer Dr. Arjun Singh Sengar and then Medical and Health Incharge Dr. NK Tyagi were suspended.
Action Taken On Investigation Committee Recommendation:
The action has been taken on the basis of the recommendations provided by an investigation committee constituted by the District Collector of Haridwar to probe the fake testing scam.
“Corruption and negligence would not be tolerated at any level. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in connection with the scam.” Dhami said.
The inquiry committee found that the authorities had collaborated with companies involved in conducting fake rapid antigen tests during the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar.
Report Submitted On Aug 16:
The committee has recommended disciplinary action against the accused medical personnel for negligence and financial loss to the state. The inquiry committee headed by the Chief Development Officer of Haridwar had submitted its report to the government on August 16.
Meanwhile, Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Senthil Avudai Krishna Raj S has been asked to take appropriate legal action against the companies involved in the fake testing scam.
