New Delhi: Hard-fought fifties from Zack Crawley (77), Ben Stokes (60) and bold performances from the lower order batters helped England draw the fourth Ashes Test against Australia on Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), even after losing nine wickets. However, hosts Australia are ahead 3-0 in the five-match series despite this Test being drawn.
England’s tail-enders Jack Leach (26), Stuart Broad (08 not out) and James Anderson (00 not out) saved England from defeat amid dimming light by batting the last 10 overs under extreme pressure.
Australia had given a target of 388 runs to England. Chasing the target, England managed to score 270/9 in their second innings. The match turned out to be a thriller on the fifth and final day of the Sydney Test.
England seemed to be moving towards defeat, but due to the bold performance of the tail-enders in the lower order, England managed to draw the Eng vs Aus 4th Ashes Test against Australia.

Australia’s Scott Boland (3 for 30), captain Pat Cummins (2 for 80) and Nathan Lyon (2 for 28) took Australia to the threshold of victory, followed by Steve Smith (one wicket for 10 runs).
With two overs remaining, Leach got dismissed but Australia could not get a final wicket in the last over. Broad and Anderson remained unbeaten to save England from defeat. With this, England managed to prevent Australia from winning a fourth Test in the ongoing Ashes series after three consecutive defeats.
