Pakistani politician Hina Rabbani Khar has been making headlines since she was sworn in as a Minister of State in the 34-member cabinet of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The 45-year-old politician is known for her influential family background, beauty and sartorial choices. Earlier, in July 2011, she was appointed Foreign Minister of Pakistan at the age of 33. Hina Rabbani was the youngest person and the first woman to have held the position. She left everyone stunned with her style quotient – pearls, Roberto Cavalli shades and a Birkin bag – during her official visit to India. “She dresses conservatively, conscious of the fact that she represents a Muslim state. Her brief to the designer is not to make body-hugging dresses. But she’s extremely stylish,” says Lahore-based Honey Waqar, who has designed for Khar. “Politicians here are usually not aware about brands, but she knows a lot and loves accessorising with stylish bags,” says Islamabad-based designer Sobia Nazir. Hina Rabbani is mostly spotted in subtle colours such as several shades of blue, beige and white. She often opts full sleeve kurtas paired with churidaars and chiffon dupattas in the same shade. Hina’s jewellery collections also redefine elegance as she mostly styles her ensembles with pearl necklaces and studs apart from a few bangles and a watch.
