Distributors are lowering the prices of the iPhone 14 by as much as VND2 million ($85) to lure more buyers during the busy Tet New Year holiday, which begins this week.
The price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max with 128 GB will fall from VND31.8 million to VND29.8 million.
The price of the iPhone 14 Pro decreased by VND700,000 to VND27.8 million, and that of iPhone 14 and 14 Plus fell by some VND500,000.
Apple authorised resellers in Vietnam said they lowered selling prices by themselves because the supply is abundant and it is the peak shopping period now.
Their discount programmes will last 7-10 days.
Phung Phuong, a manager at Di Dong Viet, said iPhone sales in mid-January nearly doubled against the same period last month.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max posted the biggest increase, accounting for 37.6 percent of total sales of Apple smartphones, followed by iPhone 11 with 20.8%, iPhone 13 with nearly 16%, and iPhone 14 Pro with 15%, she said.
Distributors predicted that sales in days before Tet will grow by 25-50 percent against the same period last month. Some shops will remain open throughout Tet.
In early January, Apple authorised resellers confirmed that a large number of iPhone 14 models had been allocated to the domestic market. The number of iPhones, mainly Pro models, was three times higher than in October last year.
In October and November, customers were waiting a month for delivery of the latest iPhone models, the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, due to high demand and low supply, retailers said.
