India Logs 1890 New COVID 19 Cases In Past 24 Hours Highest Single Day Tally In 5 Months

India on Sunday logged 1,890 new Covid-19 cases, the highest in 149 days meanwhile, the active cases rose to 9,433, as per the data of the Union Health Ministry. The nation last recorded such high numbers on October 28, 2022, when the cases recorded in a single day stood at 2,208.

After the contribution of the past 24 hours, the Coronavirus death toll in India stands at 5,30,831. Maharashtra and Gujarat each reported two deaths in the span of 24 hours, and Kerala reconciled three as per the data updated at 8 am.

The daily positivity was recorded at 1.56 per cent while the weekly positivity was pegged at 1.29 per cent.

The Covid-19 active cases now comprise 0.02 per cent of total infections and the national recovery rate was recorded at 98.7 per cent, as per the Ministry’s data. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.47 crore (4,47,04,147).

The tally of people who recovered from coronavirus increased to 4,41,63,883, while the fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.

The status of the vaccination drive as per the website says that 220.65 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the nation till now.

Meanwhile, amid a surge in Covid-19 and seasonal influenza cases, Delhi government hospitals will conduct a mock drill to take stock of their preparedness, health infrastructure and logistics, news agency PTI reported.

According to a senior health official, an order has been issued to the medical superintendents, medical directors, and chief district medical officers (CDMOs) by the Delhi health department.

“All the MS/MDs and CDMOs of all the hospitals of the Delhi government are hereby requested to hold a mock drill on 26.03.2023 (Sunday) to check the preparedness of health, infrastructure, and logistics including the availability of oxygen, so as to prepare for any eventuality, especially in view of increasing Covid-19 and influenza type cases,” the order stated.
