New Delhi: At the height of Indian television’s golden age, Zee TV broadcast the buddy drama ‘Hip Hip Hurray’. But we were unaware that the cult-favorite television show had a connection to another classic, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. The characters of the show can be seen discussing the most recent film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in one of the episodes.
There has been much debate about how Shah Rukh Khan’s character Rahul is ultimately won over by the makeover of Anjali into a feminine woman. The story has received a lot of criticism for feeding sexist stereotypes about women. Recently, an old episode clip of the show that was years ahead of its time has gone viral, where the characters could be seen spitting facts about the film.
Check out the clip here:
Trivia Alert: Nupur Asthana made this show. She also made two other very good shows: Mahi Way and Hubahu. Also, directed Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. https://t.co/QWw5Ly2w6V

This is exactly what I thought of #KuchKuchHotaHain when it released. We made #Satya the same year & were neck to neck at all awards. Never thought KKHH would be so celebrated one day–especially by the ones who had hated it then. Power of money, muscle & marketing? #HipHipHurray https://t.co/dIYizp7EHk

Hum sabka childhood 😀… But just imagine, these kids made so much sense back then, and till today, we continue to see such stereotypical roles being written for women. While I love #KuchKuchHotaHai, this problem with the film is something even a fan can’t ignore. #HipHipHurray https://t.co/QiQZeGIdJT

But now I also want to rewatch Hip Hip Hurray, a show so ahead of its time with such a solid and progressive discourse. https://t.co/BM5nNsX3qA
