NEW DELHI: In order to provide impetus to the government’s ethanol blended petrol (EBP) programme, the environment ministry has put its green clearance process for grain-based distillery projects producing ethanol in fast-track mode through a special dispensation and has awarded approval to 163 such distilleries across 19 states.
The move will help India in not only moving faster towards achieving its climate action goal by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emission and tackling air pollution but also in boosting its agricultural economy and reducing dependence on imported fossil fuel.
