The chief of Cricket Australia on Wednesday admitted that the board has enquired with the related well being authorities on the timeline for Covid-19 vaccinations as a part of its planning for the South Africa tour.

That is within the backdrop of an ongoing debate within the nation whether or not it will be proper for the cricketers to be given precedence entry within the rollout.

“We clearly sought some clarification on the vaccine timeline right here in Australia, simply to know how that might overlay with our excursions,” Cricket Australia government Ben Oliver informed reporters in a video convention.

“To make clear that … the precedence is ensuring our group can go on tour and return again to Australia safely, and we’re doing every little thing we will round that.”

Australia authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine to be used on Monday and begins its vaccine rollout in February.

After the loss to India within the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia are subsequent scheduled to tour South Africa subsequent month, though the dates and venues are but to be confirmed.

Australia named a squad on Wednesday for the three-test Tour. South Africa has recorded greater than 1.4 million Covid-19 circumstances and 41,000 deaths, out of greater than 3.4 million circumstances and 86,000 deaths in Africa.

The chairman of the Australian cricketers’ union informed the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper this week it will not be “morally defensible” for the gamers to “bounce the queue” for the vaccine forward of upper threat teams.

England’s one-day worldwide collection in South Africa was postponed in December after an unnamed South Africa participant and two resort workers members contracted Covid-19 contained in the groups’ biosecure hub.
