THE BJP is following the same path as the Congress when it comes to “getting raids done by central agencies” and would face the same fate as the Congress, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday.

Akhilesh told mediapersons in Ahmedabad, “I have met industrialists from Gujarat multiple times in the past. They say that if they don’t face a CBI raid, they feel bad. The people of Gujarat know the significance of this: Income tax, ED (Enforcement Directorate), and the CBI. I hDBI ave said in the past too that ED is ‘examination in democracy’. One has to pass this examination. The BJP is following the same route as the Congress.”

“The tradition started by the Congress is being followed by the BJP. The BJP is not doing anything new by getting raids done by the ED, CBI, and I-T. Those who are getting the raids done…They will end up facing the same fate as Congress: That there won’t be anyone who will take the name of the BJP…”
“The CBI, ED and the income tax department run on the government’s directions. If the Congress has fallen down on the ground today, tomorrow, the BJP will also reach there,” he added. The leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly is in Gujarat for a two-day visit. “I have come to Gujarat multiple times in the past too. This land has always sent a message. The father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, who was born here, vowed to follow non-violence,” said Akhilesh.

“The slogan of truth and non-violence was given by Mahatma Gandhi… India followed that path and got Independence. Along with Independence, people in politics followed these principles in their lives as well. This was the path of non-violence and truth. But since the BJP has come to power and especially in Uttar Pradesh, they have forgotten these paths. They don’t follow the path of truth. The path of non-violence has been taken over by the bulldozer,” added Akhilesh.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, who arrived in Ahmedabad on Saturday, will attend the wedding of the grandson of former Gujarat CM Shankersinh Vaghela.
