Beijing’s municipal government has set a target of having 3,000 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) on the Chinese capital’s roads by the end of next year and of expanding that number to more than 10,000 units in 2025. According to a five-year roadmap published on Nov. 22 by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Management, local authorities also plan to have more than 70 hydrogen filling stations in service in the city. China’s sales of FCEVs increased 35% year-on-year to 1,586 units last year, official figures showed, and the central government aims to have about 50,000 hydrogen cars running on the roads by 2025.
