Alleged Xiaomi 12 Ultra With Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Confirmed To Launch In July Lei Jun Details

Xiaomi’s next flagship, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is likely to launch next month and it would be the first smartphone to launch with the top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The latest leak suggests that the device will sport a slightly smaller screen than its predecessor — the Xiaomi 12 Ultra would feature a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED panel and the device would be unveiled in July.

According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered device with codename 8475 would be announced next month. The phone is likely to be the much-anticipated Xiaomi 12 Ultra.

The biggest USP of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra is the Leica-branded primary camera set-up even though the camera specs may be unchanged from the very capable Mi 11 Ultra. There could be a 50MP primary camera with the largest sensor in a smartphone, paired with two 48MP sensors. There might be a  selfie camera with 20MP sensor and the device may be powered by a 4800mAh battery.

Earlier in May Xiaomi had announced partnering with German camera-making giant Leica, becoming the third smartphone OEM to join hands with the company after Huawei and Sharp. The handset maker had mentioned that the first device from the Xiaomi-Leica partnership will be officially unveiled in July this year.

It should be noted that smartphone brands’ partnerships with lens makers is not new. While Huawei had launched the Huawei P30 Pro, the Huawei P40 and the Huawei P50 series in partnership with Leica, Vivo has also has a similar deal with the German lens major Zeiss group, OnePlus and Oppo from BBK Electronics have a deal with Swedish lens maker Hasselblad.
