10,000 OSA patients access Apollo Telehealth’s sleep programme

New Delhi: Apollo Telehealth has announced that its Good Nidra programme launched in March 2022 to help patients manage obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), has been accessed by more than 10,000 patients one year into the programme. The sleep programme offers doctors and OSA patients an alternative therapy that covers screening and diagnosis at home or in the hospital using technologically based instruments that Apollo claims are convenient and cost-effective.

The telehealth platform informed that their programme deployed fully equipped Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices with connected facilities for remotely monitoring treatments, in addition to a back-end support team including sleep technicians, sleep coaches, and counsellors to instruct and direct patients at every stage of the treatment programme.

To date, more than 7000 sleep screenings have been carried out through this sleep programme including 2000 plus consultations, 1500 plus sleep studies and 3000 plus counselling and diet sessions. Additionally, over 1000 patients received therapy for more than 350 days to treat their sleep disorders.

Informing about the necessity of sleep therapy, Dr Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group said, “Sleep deprivation is a silent epidemic and can have negative impacts on health, businesses and economies. The consequences of neglecting it welcome an increased risk of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and heart conditions.”

Speaking about the success of the Good Nidra Program, Vikram Thaploo, CEO, HealthNet Global shared, “OSA is one of the most prevalent diseases in the world. Around 1 billion people worldwide experience OSA, and up to 80 per cent of those who have sleep apnea go untreated. Sleep apnea is a serious chronic condition that affects patients’ quality of life and general health in addition to their ability to sleep. This new programme can aid the medical industry as a whole in confronting this deadly disease head-on in an effort to save more lives and increase public awareness of it.”
